Making the best mezcal in Mexico
180 Piñas is a mezcal traditionally made in the Central Valleys of the State of Oaxaca, Mexico; birthplace of mezcal spirit. Made by the fifth generation of mezcal producer in which maintains the handcrafted style of the world’s best-tasting small batch mezcal.
During Pre-Hispanic times, the only people authorized to drink spirits were the priests and kings. So the idea of growing a special agave arose. Made in a region known for its semi-dry, and semi-warm climate, it becomes the perfect place for producing the key ingredient of mezcal, the Agave Espadín.
To obtain a perfect “Mashcalli”, or black maguey, an amount of 180 agave pine-cones, the heart of the agave plant known as “Piña”, are required to achieve the precise cooking.
A well-balanced spirit made by the hands of artisans who honor their ancestors with the preparation and representation of a perfect handcrafted mezcal. Adopting the mission of being a leader in handcrafted mezcal, we follow traditions for the satisfaction of our consumers – maintaining the vision of cultivating the agave through handcrafted practices that result in a spirit with unique flavor, smell, and aroma.
History: The amount of 180 agave pine-cones for cooking maguey became a standard of perfection for the acquisition of a <<Mashcalli>> (black maguey) with the greatest delight of this spirit that transcends to the supernatural.
To obtain an exceptional spirit, the perfect balance of the flavor, smell, and aroma was sought in the <<Metl>> or <<Doba>>, known as agave, combining the indigenous past with the technological contributions from Europe. Without stalks, the short and thick trunk of the agave remains, which resembles the shell and shape of a pineapple; known as the <<heart>> of this plant abundant in elements susceptible to man’s satisfaction
Mission: To be the leading distributor of handcrafted mezcal, maintaining the traditions for the satisfaction of our consumers.
